Good summary!

There's not much to comment on except, perhaps, we wasted 2 corners on a short pass rather than go for the jugular which, when you see how poorly they defended for our goal, makes you wonder how this vulnerability wasn't identified much earlier.

Controversial, perhaps, but I would also rather have seen MLS get the start in that game over EE. Except on the turn, he receives the ball in tight situations so much better than EE and has a better awareness of opponents around him. He also looks to get forward at every opportunity and delivers an early pass which defenders always hate. By contract, I don't think EE is yet in his best role/position - we don't get enough shots from him.

Turns out to have been academic. Thankfully.

I agree that somehow this lineup is not as free flowing as I thought it would be.

I envisioned Odegaard being a deep lying playmaker that moves the ball forward and Eze poking around the box where he can just turn his opponent and shoot or create a shooting opportunity for the teammate.

Maybe it’s because they didn’t play enough with each other to work the routines. Or Arteta demands from both a deeper role and then the full potential might never be realized
